Dear Korean School of New England Parents,

 

The following is information about the opening of the 2020 fall semester and important school events.

 

(1) First day of Fall Semester: Sep. 26, 2020

1) In Newton City, which is where our school is located, it was decided that classes would be taught in-person for only 2 days and online for the rest. Other towns have also decided to either go hybrid with a combination of online classes and in-person learning or do 100% online classes with starting dates of before September 16. Thus, it was decided that the Korean School of New England will open on September 26, a week later.

2) The Korean School of New England, which successfully completed our last spring semester through online classes, will be online this fall semester in order to protect the health and safety of our families.

 

3) Extend due date registration to August 31, 2020 

 

(2) Drive-Thru Textbook & KF Mask distribution

1)    Date & Time: September 12 (Sat) 9:00am~12:30pm

2)    Place: Korean School of New England (130 Wheeler Rd., Newton, MA 02459

3)    Textbooks and learning materials distribution: Textbooks are available for all students who use textbooks in class

4)    Mask distribution: For students and families enrolled in the 2020 fall semester (KF94 & KF80 masks and dental face masks)

5)    Textbooks and masks will be distributed at a set time assigned by course level. The distribution schedule will be announced later.

(3) Class materials and textbook distribution:

There will be a guide available later on sharing the fall semester’s class goals for each class (or course level), distributing textbooks, and distributing class materials in advance. 

 

(4) Interview & Assessment Day for New Students

1)    Date & Time: September 5~11

2)    Interview schedules will be sent to new students by email or phone

3)    Class assignments will be done by checking new students’ level through online interviews We plan on finishing all interviews and class assignments by the 12th.

 

(5) Class Introduction & Curriculum Day

1)    Date & Time: September 19 (Sat):

2)    Will be held through ZOOM for each grade/course level separately. Each course will set a schedule and notify parents.

3)    Online Classes Guide: As requested by parents through the survey conducted last spring semester, we will provide parents education on online tools such as ZOOM, Google Docs, Google Class etc.

4)    Purpose: Program about online classes for parents & to share basic class schedules
