12 Graduate in New England Korean School's Class of 2019

‘Graduation is another beginning’

 

(Boston = Boston Korea) Editorial Department = New England Korean School held a graduation ceremony on the 8th and produced 12 graduates.

 

Among the 12 graduates, Choi Yoo-min received the Consul General Award and Choi Jae-gyeong and Lee Yoo-jin won the Principal Award. Kim Joon-young was awarded the Parent-teacher Association President Award and Lee Sang-jae was awarded the President of the Board Award. Choi Jeong-Wan received the President of the NE Citizens Association Award and Heo Eun-Bin the President of the Science and Technology Association Award.

 

Kim Soo-kyeong, Song So-yeon, Kim Soo-yeon, Koo Bon-ju, and Lee Seung-min were awarded the Baeklin Scholarship from the Baeklin Scholarship Association. Choi Yoo-min, who participated in 'My Dream' speech contest, was awarded the President of the My Dream Foundation Award in addition to the General Consul Award.

 

The graduation ceremony consisted of celebration performances, congratulations, graduations, and awarding of diplomas and awards and was emceed by teacher Kim So-hee. The graduation ceremony was attended by Boston Consulate General Kim Yong-hyun, Education Consul General Lee Jong-seop, President of Baeklin Scholarship Association Hong Kyeong-ae, Citizens Association President Lee Kyeong-ae, Science and Technology Association President Jeong Yoo-jin, My Dream Foundation Director Oh In-sik, KSNE Executive Director Park Shin-young, and President of the Parent-Teacher Association Kim Hyo-jeong.

 

Following the welcoming remarks of Principal Nam-il, Park Shin-young and Kim Hyo-jeong made a congratulatory address, remarking that, “I think graduation is not the end but another beginning. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the graduates who will receive a brilliant diploma today and have attended Korean school for a long time, and hope that they will become the next generation leaders who maintain their identities as second generation Koreans."

 

Yong-Hyun Kim, Consul-General of Boston, said, “As I commend our teachers and parents for their hard work in preparing for today's 2019 Graduation Ceremony, the graduates will be receiving their diplomas as a result of your patience and belief, and with this belief as a background, I believe that it is a truly valuable diploma that will be of great help in going to college and entering society and will protect their pride in their Korean and Korean culture as the second generation.”

 

President of the NE Citizens Association Lee Kyeong-hae and Science and Technology Association President Jeong Yoo-jin encouraged and congratulated the graduates, saying that, “I thank the students and their parents because I know how difficult it is to attend Korean school every Saturday. We believe that our graduates will stand proudly as the next generation of Korean-American leaders.”

 

The guests, the guests, the graduates, and the students enjoyed the congratulatory performances. Ki Ye-rin, Kang Da-ye, Bae Ji-won, Bae Ji-Hoon's 'Sunset Glow', Lee Hye-Rin, Lee Joon-Ho's 'You can do it', Yoo-ri and Yoo-ha Sterns's 'Our Mother's Name is Ahjumma', and a 'Love Scenario' performance by Jeong Da-in, Jeong Philip and Jeong Ian followed.

 

After the graduation ceremony, Jung Min-Ah, Choi Jae-Min, Choi Jae-Yoon, Hwang Eun-Ha's performance of 'The World I Want', 'Crab Friendship' of the Heungbu-Nolbu Team (led by teacher Seo Chae-Song Song), and Silla 1 & 2 Team's performance of or 'Pinocchio' (led by teachers Hong Soon-joo and Kim Ji-yeon) followed.

 

The sight of the juniors shouting, "Congratulations on your graduation!" to their seniors was memorable. In particular, last year's graduates, Jung Ki-chae, Jung Ki-ho, and Jung Ki-ryeo, created a warm scene delivering donations raised for their juniors through Bake Sale Fundraising.

 

Finally, the parents of the graduates shared their congratulatory messages via a congratulatory video with their graduating children in an emotional moment.

 

The New England Korean School, which is currently celebrating its 44th anniversary, will hold a summer ceremony and an academic presentation on June 15, beginning summer vacation afterwards and will start the fall semester on September 21.
