Korean School of New England’s 2018 Orientation & Teacher Training Workshop
The Korean School of New England (Principal Nam Il, PTO President Kim Hyo Jung, Chairman Yoon Kyung Sook), the largest Korean school in the region, had its 43rd traditional opening which started with a Newcomers’ Orientation. The event took place this Saturday (8th) at 9:30 am in the school’s lecture hall, to introduce the school and the general academic schedule as the fall semester of 2018 begins.
The second part of the school’s opening consisted of a teacher training workshop led by Cho Jung Hyun, who taught healthy communication skills, and a teacher council meeting.
Located in Newton’s Oak Hill Middle School, the Korean School of New England offers classes every Saturday ranging from basics preparation classes to adult classes, with morning classes and afternoon special education programs.
The teacher faculty consists of Kim Hee Hyun (Leader of Basics Preparation class & 1-2 courses), Lee Sung Hee (Leader of Basics 3-4 courses), Joo Min Jung (Leader of Beginners 1-3 courses), Kim So Hee (Leader of Intermediate 1-3 courses), Kim Young Soon (Leader of Advanced 1-3 courses), Kim Min Jung (Leader of Sejong 1-7 courses), Lee Jung Seol (Composition Education 1-4 courses), Shin Min Young (Leader of Music Education 1-3 courses), Kim Kyung Sun (Leader of Culture Education), homeroom teachers, and assistant teachers.
The PTO association (President Kim Hyo Jung) and Board of Directors (Chairman Yoon Kyung Sook) are always providing the best educational support for the students.
In the morning, Korean language and history education is taught as well as other various cultural education like composition, music, calligraphy, traditional instruments, martial arts, and zumba dance. In the afternoon, extracurricular classes like Taekwondo, art, folklore art painting, ballet, and calligraphy are taught.
The Korean School of New England will hold Newcomer Gatherings, as shown below, and seats will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis in the case of the Byung Ah Ri class (basics preparation) and basics 1-2 courses.
